- CrossFit 858 and other local gyms are proud to join forces with CrossFit Kids HQ to help Empower Charter School get off the ground. Empower Charter School will be located in the Linda Vista neighborhood of San Diego.

“Empower Charter School is doing something about the childhood obesity epidemic facing our nation. We will be a free, public school that integrates fitness and health into the education program. There are many studies that show a strong link between physical fitness and academic performance, yet many schools have cut PE. The CrossFit Kids PE program will bring a lot of fun into our students’ school day. In fact, we believe school should be fun and our teachers will facilitate learning through projects, group work, and topics students are interested in.
We will also use writing and technology as powerful tools to enhance our students’ learning. For example, students may blog about science or create video tutorials about math concepts. A writing-centered learning environment will empower our students to become strong communicators and collaborators.
Empower Charter School has received a lot of support from the community. This support, whether it’s donations or going online to sign an interest form, will be crucial to us getting the school approved for opening. By helping us start the first Empower Charter School, you are creating a charter school that can be replicated around the country. ” -Empower Charter School
