How long have you been doing CrossFit?

A year and a half. I started when I moved to California in August 2018.

What got you hooked on CrossFit?

I came to CrossFit because I was having difficulty motivating myself and committing to a run/lift schedule. Before some activity in my life was taking care of one and I just had to focus on the other. CrossFit covers the lifting and strength portion and now I just have to focus on running and endurance. But, what really keeps me coming back week after week are the gains and the people of 858.

What is your favorite movement?

I love seeing deadlifts and long runs programmed in the WOD, but the snatch is the movement I am most excited about when I see an improvement.

Do you have any current goals you are trying to attain?

My goal has always been to improve my mobility. I haven’t formed it into a SMART goal yet, so who knows what that success looks like.

Do you have any advice for someone starting out in CrossFit?

Everybody has different reasons for starting CrossFit and continuing CrossFit. Make CrossFit your own and get what you want out of it.  Fitness is a journey. Much like life, there will be highs and lows. Have some fun along the way.

Fun Fact:

A group of my friends call me Bubba because my dad said he was going to call me Bubba if I had been a boy.

Tulika Dimri

Tulika has had an incredible enthusiasm towards CrossFit since she started with us. She started her 858 journey right at the beginning of the March 2019 Open season, and despite being new she took on each workout at Friday Night Lights with everything she had. Since then, her hard work has not dwindled as she continues to show up consistently, always with a positive attitude and the drive to be better each day. She’s a friendly face to the community and always says hello when you walk in.

Do you have any advice for someone starting out in CrossFit?

Give it a month to actually see how you feel about it .Take it slow at first.  Learn the movements, master the mechanics, then worry about weight and speed.
