2013 CrossFit Open

2013 CrossFit Open

Did  you know CrossFit has a competition element?  Well, it’s that time of the year again.

Every spring, CrossFit conducts the CrossFit Open, where hundreds of thousands of CrossFitter globally enter into a 5 week open competition.   CrossFit HQ will release a workout each week on Wednesday and competitors will have until Sunday 5pm to submit their scores for the weekly WOD.  After 5 weeks, the top 48 competitors of each of the 16 regions worldwide will then continue to the Regionals.  The top 3 men and women at each regional competition will advance to the 2013 CrossFit Games at the Home Depot Center in Los Angeles and broadcast worldwide on ESPN 2.

All of the Open workouts MUST be judged and validated at a registered affiliate.  Also, when you enter the Open and enter your affiliate, you are automatically put on the affiliate team.

CrossFit 858 is a registered affiliate and I’m proud to say that we are once again competing this year.

Starting on March 9th, through the entire Open season, we will be canceling our 12pm class and reserving it for anyone registered for the CrossFit Open.  Like last year, we will gather at 11:50am and start promptly at 12pm and go in heats.  It will be a “competition environment” where movement standards will be briefed and every athlete will have a judge.  The plus side is that you will be doing the wods alongside your fellow CrossFit 858 members.

If you wish to enter the Opens but cannot attend the Saturday session, you can have your workout validated at the gym any other time, just let one of the coaches know so they can assign a judge to you for validation.

IMPORTANT NOTE: ALL athletes are encouraged to enter, regardless of tenure!!  This is NOT exclusive for “fire breathers”!!  I promise if you enter, this will be a rewarding experience like no other.  It will be a whole other side of CrossFit that you do not normally see.
